Summer Trip 2026 Day 15
5 August 2026
Today was the day I crossed the border from North Dakota to Minnesota on my way to Minneapolis! This photo was taken at the welcome rest area (and if I hadn’t still be wearing my sunglasses, I might have been able to frame this better).

I drove 247 miles today and went through countless construction zones, several of which were two-way traffic. The scenery for the most part was typical Minnesota, endless corn fields with some rolling hills and trees. It was actually rather pleasant after the lack of trees for the past couple of days. The weather was also really nice with a moderate breeze, full sun, and temps in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Because I decided to wait until this morning to charge in Fargo, I was able to get cheaper electricity than I would have yesterday afternoon. Stop #1 was at a Tesla location just a couple of blocks from my hotel and I charged from 46-80% in 17 minutes, adding 33.244 kWh for $11.30.
Stop #2 was a Tesla Supercharger in Alexandria MN, charging from 37-80% in 20 minutes and adding 39.490 kWh for $15.79.
Stop #3 was another Tesla Supercharger in Monticello MN, charging from 44-80% in 17 minutes, adding 33.878 kWh for $14.22.
So far on this trip, I’ve been fortunate to never have to wait for a charger! I’d been concerned about that, especially in the western states, but even when locations are busy they aren’t so busy that I can’t just pull right in and charge.
I’m now at 5,029 miles for this trip and probably won’t post again until Monday as I’m staying in Minneapolis with family for a few days. Check back in a few days for the rest of this year’s adventure!
