Playing the Organ Before Leaving
OK, I know, this isn’t Michigan, but this was the organ I played the morning of the day I left for Michigan, so can’t that count?
Somers (CT) Congregational Church burned to the ground a couple of years ago, and they have rebuilt in the same style (but modernized!) and have installed a new tracker organ, opus 21 of Richards, Fowkes & Co. With light touch, harpsichord-scale keys, and a flat pedalboard, it is tricky to play but oh, so rewarding! The room’s acoustics complement the instrument perfectly.
