Summer Trip 2023 Day 25
10 July 2023

I opted for all secondary roads today as I didn’t need to go all that far, just from the Toledo OH area to Jamestown NY. In all, it was 279 miles through generally interesting countryside; best of all, I avoided the stretches of I-90 that I’ve driven all too many times including heading the opposite direction a few weeks ago.
The day started off bright and clear; my hotel room last night looked out on a neighborhood (I wonder what those people think about having the hotel right next to their yards?):

Unlike yesterday’s rolling hills and trees, I was quickly into very flat farmland but still with plenty of trees to distinguish it from Kansas and Nebraska:

Later in the day, the “rolling hills” returned with a vengeance, but at one point I also crossed a large lake called Mosquito Creek Lake:

You can’t see in that photo, but there were a lot of boats out on the lake, just not in this particular area, and this lake was on both sides of the highway which ran along a narrow causeway with one bridge that allowed boat traffic between the two sides.
My hotel room in Jamestown looks out on a cemetery. This seems appropriate given that when we moved away from here back in ‘87, the growth industry was nursing homes.

Tomorrow will be another even shorter drive to Ithaca NY where I’ll spend my last night on this trip.
