Fall Trip 2024 Day 11
2 October 2024
I drove very little yesterday so here we are, skipping a day. I didn’t drive a lot more today, just a pleasant hour-and-a-half drive up to East Lansing to visit an old grad-school friend and her wife, then back to Ann Arbor. As usual, I stayed off the interstates and only wasted an extra 15 minutes in each direction by doing so.
Because I didn’t charge at the hotel yesterday, and wasn’t confident of being able to charge today, I headed to an Electrify America location in Ypsilanti on my way back. It wasn’t in the greatest location and it was the older generation chargers which are slow, but it got me what I needed.

That was certainly a far cry from the new chargers at Meijer stores in other states — this plaza was mostly closed stores, but fortunately, there was a bathroom at a nearby Popeye’s (although they had NO DRINKS available because “the truck hadn’t arrived”).
From there, I headed to Second Meal™️ in downtown Ann Arbor and then back to the hotel where, to my surprise and delight, I was able to grab an EV parking space and get the car charged to 100%. When I head further east in the morning, I’ll have a full “tank” to start with.
I don’t think I posted this earlier, but this is the view from my hotel room (not particularly exciting). The only difference between this photo (taken yesterday) and today is that today is a cloudless sky and 10º cooler (in the 60s) with much lower humidity … my kind of weather!

As of arriving back at the hotel, I’m at 2.270 miles on this trip with an efficiency of 3.8 miles/kWh. Even better, I haven’t paid for charging once (so far, and knocking on wood). I should finish the trip right around 3,000 miles on Saturday afternoon.
