Summer Trip 2022 Day 22
Summer 2022 Day 22
I was back on the road today through the rolling hills and trees of Missouri before crossing into Illinois and continuing on to Peoria.

Those grey clouds turned to sun after a couple of hours but by that point, it wasn’t in my eyes. Traffic was light all day and the driving was easy.
I ended the longer part of the drive at this landmark in Peoria, the 1889 building of the former Second Presbyterian Church, designed by the renowned architect W W Boyington, also the designer of the famed Chicago Water Tower, in the popular Richardson Romanesque Revival style. But as this facility now houses Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery, I’ll refer you to my brews-and-pubs blog for more photos 🙂

My hotel is about a half hour south of Peoria, in Pekin, and is perhaps the newest of all the newly built hotels I’ve stayed in over the past few years. Access is from an Aldi’s parking lot and it is literally on the edge of town, central Illinois style:

Tomorrow I drive to Grand Rapids MI where I’ll decompress for three full days before heading back home to Massachusetts.
