To the Lake Michigan Shore and Northwards!
Today was a wet day for the most part, but there were a few breakthroughs of sun and blue skies for part of the afternoon. I spent the morning driving through torrential downpours, but found the first good weather of the day in time for lunch and these pictures taken at a little park on Spring Lake:

An hour and a half or so later, and not too long before I headed back into on-again, off-again showers for the rest of the day, I stopped at a rest area and got my first official glimpse of Lake Michigan from an observation deck:

Frankly, I was sort of underwhelmed and actually preferred the view in the other direction!

And then there was this rock; I saw several more which were similar enough that it must be a “thing” in this part of the country.

Unfortunately, the remainder of the day’s “good photo opportunities” were either passed during rain showers or were visible for just a brief time from a section of road with no chance of pulling off. I had intended to end the day’s drive at Sleeping Bear Dunes, which should have offered some great vantage points for pictures, but it was raining steadily at that point so I gave up and went straight to the hotel.
Here’s hoping that the weather is better tomorrow for the trip to Mackinac Island!
