It’s all downhill from there

After the highlights of Mackinac Island (which I’ve since been informed is pronounced “Mackinaw” in spite of the spelling … it’s a French thing, apparently!), there was just no point to trying to capture photos of anything else.

But then there was last night’s hotel room, at one of those “budget” cheap-o places which are usually good for a laugh if not a good night’s sleep.

The bed was a little too close to the window to make these two drawers all that useful:

And why, you may well ask, couldn’t the bed have been moved a teeny bit further away from the window to make these drawers more accessible? Well, there was the issue of the “kitchenette” island on the other side of the bed, but the real thing preventing the bed from moving was a small matter of the light switch which controlled the lights above the bed. It was already feeling a bit pressed for space:

Seriously? I mean, this switch was difficult to move because it was being pressed sideways by the headboard!

Tonight, I’m in Corning, NY. Tomorrow, home. And thus ends a wonderful week with a perfectly fabulous climax on Mackinac Island. Do visit there if you have the opportunity — I hope to get back there again some year!
