2018 Road Trip Day 15 (the last)

2018 Road Trip, Day 15 (The Last)

Today was only 555 miles, but that felt like nothing compared to some of the long days I’ve had on this trip (plus, there was this really engrossing audiobook …).

I took the Southern Tier route through New York State as I prefer the slightly longer yet lightly-traveled route to staying on the Thruway (I-90). That also allowed me to stop for Second Meal in Corning at an old favorite, Market Street Brewing Company. They only have five regular taps plus one seasonal, but the food is excellent and the atmosphere is friendly. I had my usual – a Mad Bug Lager, a D’Artagnan Dark, and their Grilled Cheese, made with multiple cheeses, tomato, and red onions on a focaccia bread.

Now I’m home and feeling glad to be back, but a little lost in that I’ve become so accustomed to my adventuring. At least I have a day to unwind before work rears its ugly head on Monday morning — but I can honestly say that I wrung the most out of this two weeks and spent almost no time thinking about what would be waiting for me when I get back.

The trip total was 5,375.2 miles in 15 ½ days across 15 states and 12,180 feet of elevation. I believe 16 brewpubs were involved as well, making for a truly eclectic time and so much fun.

Tomorrow, I’ll do one final update, a visual of my entire route.
