Fall Trip 2025 Day 3
15 September 2025

Since I forgot to show you my hotel’s EV chargers yesterday evening, here they are — 2 NACS ports and 2 J-1772. Both J-1772 plugs were in use last night but there were no Teslas charging this time.
The morning was clear and it was 62º when I left the hotel at 8:30am. This was the photo of sunrise from my hotel room, taken through the very dirty window:

The day’s drive was 243.9 miles on secondary roads through rural (for the most part) Ohio and Indiana, and because I started with 100% charge I was able to go most of the way before stopping at a Tesla Supercharger in Lebanon IN for a top-up from 41% to 70%. I could have made it all the way without stopping for a charge, but I needed a bathroom break anyway! This Supercharger location had only 8 chargers and at least half of them were occupied the entire time I was there. Because these were V3 chargers with the short cords, I had to take up two spots so I was fortunate the existing cars didn’t prevent me from doing that. (I wish Tesla would hurry up already with converting to their V4 chargers with longer cords and 800V architecture!)
After eating at People’s Brewing in Lafayette IN, I drove a few miles to an Electrify America charger at the Walmart just behind my hotel. Since I was only down to 56% at that point, I decided to take advantage of the 30-minute free charging to get the car up to 90%, although the charger did stop at 89%. I’ll still be at 89% for the start of tomorrow’s drive but even so I will have to make one charging stop on the way to Davenport IA.
Today’s drive was almost entirely spent in farmland on roads that were mostly deserted. It was a pleasant and relaxing day, and here’s where I’ve landed at this point in the trip:
