May Trip Day 3
10 May 2024
Today’s post isn’t about the driving; that’s not done yet, but all told it probably won’t add up to 100 miles for the day.
I started by heading back to a favorite spot for walking on a nice trail through woods, Deer Haven Park near Delaware OH (north of Columbus). Even though the morning started off dreary with threats of rain, the day was lovely by the time I got to the park and headed down the trail. Deer Haven Park’s trails are well-kept and were mostly dry even though there was lots of water right up to the edge of the trail in many places. It’s a perfect time of year to visit even though many of the flowers aren’t out yet.

There is a small aviary next to the Visitor’s Center and this time there were two Red Tail Hawks, two Red Shoulder Hawks, and two Turkey Vultures. I hoped that all the birds were rescues that will be able to be released back in the wild soon. Here are the two Red Tails; it’s just unfortunate that my phone’s camera refuses to focus on the birds in the distance rather than on the wire in the foreground.

Finally, the view out my hotel room window is so much nicer today than it was yesterday with the rain and low, dark clouds. I find this very relaxing; other than a bit of parking lot directly below the window, this is all I see.
