Summer Trip 2023 Day 16

The day started bright and clear.

For the first couple of hours or so, I was on US 12 across Idaho. This is a beautiful and fairly deserted route along the Clearwater River and it rose up to the Lolo Pass where I crossed into Montana.

Both the weather and the scenery changed not long after I caught up to I-90 and I was treated to both distant mountain views and on-again/off-again rain until I arrived in Bozeman MT just after the rains stopped.

By the time I arrived at my hotel after Second Meal™️, the air was clear and pleasant and the Magpies were out in force! I’ve only seen them in the western half of the country, but they’re as ubiquitous out here as Blue Jays are at home.

Bozeman is near the mountains and while I couldn’t see them from my room, there was a great view from the front of the hotel looking north.

I ended the day at 425 miles. Tomorrow, I’ll be mostly on secondary roads down into Wyoming, heading for Casper.
