Summer Trip 2023 Day 15

This was just a 375-mile day and mostly on secondary routes except for an hour or so on I-84. During the drive from Bend OR north to I-84 at the Columbia River, I was treated to lots of distant mountain views.

I started off in farming country but after an hour, things changed dramatically.

The best parts of the drive, though, were along the Columbia River. In most of these shots, I’m in Oregon and Washington is just across the river. The river broadens enough – I saw at least one dam that would be responsible for that – to become a lake at more than one place.

I’m in Lewiston ID tonight and my hotel is up a steep hill to the south of the main town. It’s certainly a great view down to the river and the hills beyond but I would prefer that the temperature wouldn’t have been approaching 100º – thankfully, the humidity is very low today. I’m also just a few miles from Hell’s Gate State Park, so I suppose the temps are just to be expected 😀

Tomorrow is the first of four long travel days, two of which have time changes where I lose an hour. Yikes!
