Summer Trip 2022 Day 7

Summer 2022 Day 7

This was an easy day after a couple of longer driving days and before tomorrow’s long day, from Glenwood Springs CO to Richfield UT via Rim Rock Road through Colorado Monuments National Park.

Good friends of ours had politely chided me for not stopping at Monuments last year when I passed by here, so this year, I did. It was a beautiful drive that would have been even better had I had the time to spend exploring more of the park.

As I headed further west on I-70 into Utah, the scenery changed yet again to long vistas and many-layered rock cliffs:

I’m in the small town of Richfield UT tonight and this is the view from my hotel room, where if I stand to the right of the window, I can see snow-capped mountains in the distance.

Along the way, I went over a couple of more passes, one about 8,000’, seriously eating into the overall mileage for this trip. Still, I’m just over 50mpg at this point and am still hopeful to end in Oakland between 51 and 52. Every bit helps with prices what they are right now!

Tomorrow, I will spend most of the day on US 50 heading to Reno NV, the last stop before reaching Oakland CA!
