Summer Trip 2022 Day 6

Summer 2022 Day 6

The day started off foggy when I left Hays KS at 7:30am and continued like this for well over an hour:

At one point, I was passing one of the innumerable wind farms along this route and laughed that the blades were disappearing into the low clouds! By the time I got into Colorado, things had cleared and I was very happy to be back at a civilized and clean rest area. Kansas doesn’t seem to put a lot of stock in that kind of stuff …

The traffic on I-70 through Denver was just as messed up as it was a few years ago, but at least I was able to get my first glimpse of the mountains before getting into all that. They’re tough to see in this photo because of all the clouds, but that’s them, right above the horizon.

Once I was beyond Denver and seriously climbing, the scenery got very interesting. I only wish I’d had more opportunities to grab photos!

The views through Glenwood Canyon before arriving in Glenwood Springs were particularly stunning, but the road was far too winding to get any photos.

This is the view from my room tonight, if I stand to the left of my window and look to the right. I have no idea what the cable cars are for …

Perhaps some year I’ll remember not to stay in “resort towns” in Colorado as the hotels are overpriced and with poor services all around, including wifi. Colorado is beautiful, but I would have thought Hilton brands would give a bit more thought to technologically-inclined travelers.
