Summer 2021, Day 19
19 days already? It seems like I’ve just begun!
I started today by driving past our old house in Sioux City where I lived until I was three. Of course, I really don’t remember the place much at all – just a few scattered memories and images that are probably all incorrect! But it was nice to see that the house exterior has been updated from the latest Google Street View where siding was coming off and the roof was a mess.
As I was ending the day in downtown Minneapolis, where I’m having dinner at a friends apartment, the most direct route was also the most relaxing, following secondary roads almost exclusively until the last few miles.

I’ve spent enough time in this countryside, having gone to the last two years of high school and all of college in southern Minnesota, that I didn’t bother to capture much of it in photos. I did stop in a rest area near Worthington so I could least leave you with these:

As you can see, it’s not remarkably different from Nebraska, although I do think there are more trees over all and things are just generally cleaner.
On the other side of Worthington, I saw this sign. I rather wish now I’d taken a slight detour to meet the All-Father! He doesn’t get around much, lately … 😉

And finally, here’s the view from my hotel room this evening. Looking north along I-35W is not the most desirable, but I guess it makes up for the splendid view of downtown and the western sunset I had when I was in this hotel three years ago.
