Summer 2021, Day 15
I started the day with a stop just outside Twin Falls at the scenic view I mentioned yesterday. This runs just underneath the highway bridge that spans the Snake River gorge, and cut through the land that was a total surprise to me when I drove into town yesterday.
Two things to note in the photos – first, there’s a parachute jumper in one of them (they landed in a bush at the edge of the river) and second, if you zoom in on the tiny dots in the water on the first photo, you’ll get a better sense of the depth of this cut in the earth (in case you can’t zoom in far enough, they’re kayaks!)

As I continued through the rest of Idaho and into Utah, the air once again became smoky, probably because of the Bigfoot Fire in Oregon. This was one of the clearer views I had:

It was also interesting seeing warning signs for Dust Storms in southern Idaho!
Although I didn’t get any photos from US 6 between I-15 and I-70, it was an incredible route and definitely one to take if you ever get the chance (and don’t easily get white knuckles while driving). These were possibly the steepest and longest downgrades I’ve ever driven on a highway and I was very happy to be going the direction I was and not struggling up that one 8-mile-long grade.
In eastern Utah, I took a rest area break and grabbed some shots of the countryside. This was the kind of view I had for about two hours.

Just about 8 hours after I left my hotel in Twin Falls, I arrived to the Edgewater Brewery in Grand Junction CO, followed by my hotel. This is not-so-shabby view from my room:

Tomorrow will be a relatively short drive to Steamboat Springs CO and I hope to get plenty of good mountain views.
