Summer 2021, Day 12

After several relaxing days in Oakland, today felt like a LONG time in the car, almost entirely spent on I-5 as I drove to Eugene OR. The northern 100 miles of California and the entire drive in Oregon was beautiful, but slow at times with heavy truck and car traffic, steep grades, and lots of construction. I wish I’d been able to stop and take pictures in the Mt Shasta region, but that was an area with particularly heavy traffic and too many one-lane sections of road.
I did capture two pictures at a rest area, but they don’t really do this area the justice it deserves.

My hotel in Eugene is a Tru by Hilton, and a very new one at that. The Google Maps satellite view only shows the foundations, and the Apple Maps satellite view has the building under construction. The room is pleasant – although on the small side as this brand always is – and there’s a great view out the window for a change.

I’m not terrifically impressed by what I’ve seen of Eugene so far, but there will be a good entry in the other blog for the brewpub I visited today. Tomorrow, I’ll be heading over to the coast and should have a much better series of photos to show for it 🙂
