Summer 2021, Day 1
Because I’m going to be interstates for most of the next 5 days, I decided to do all backroads today. This worked well as I was only going as far as Binghamton NY, because I had a lot of things to wrap up at the house before I could leave this morning. What would have been a 3 ½ hour trip normally became a 5 ½ hour trip due to the route choice, but it was worth it for the new scenery. This is the overview of today’s drive:

Along the way, and well into NY State, I was fortunate enough to see a very large – the largest I’ve ever seen – Red Tail Hawk swoop across the road in front of me. It looked much larger “in real life” than in this poor dash cam footage, but I’ve zoomed in to try to give you a better look at this marvelous bird. It certainly doesn’t do it justice, though.

Once I got to my hotel after a stop at Beer Tree Brew Co, this sight was waiting for me as I pulled around to park near my entrance:

Tomorrow is a longer day, heading west to Maumee OH. More then.
