2018 Road Trip Day 14
2018 Road Trip, Day 14
Amazing. I’ve already been on the road for two weeks, and although I’m definitely ready to be home and in my own bed, it certainly doesn’t seem like it’s been this long.
There’s not a lot to say about today’s drive other than that it wasn’t terribly long and it was mostly in and out of rain. Once I arrived at my hotel east of Cleveland, I figured I’d head to Willoughby Brewing for Second Meal as I have done on so many recent trips. Something told me I should check for other brewpubs in the area, though, just in case there was something I’ve overlooked in the past.
And so there was, but I’d only overlooked it because it was so new! BRIM Kitchen and Brewery was started by the original owners of Willoughby Brewing, who had sold the place but got tired of not being in business and decided to open a new place. BRIM is “classy chic” but is decidedly low key, with what seems to be a new building just a few blocks from WB. I stayed on the main floor, but there’s also another bar as well as an outdoor patio upstairs. Their prices are very reasonable also!
The flight, from left to right, is the Hibiscus Mist (rather nice), the Stop 43 Stout (a very decent, no frills stout), the Cherry Wheat (good, but too sweet for my taste), and the Blonde Enigma (excellent!).

Tomorrow is just a long drive home with a stop at either Market Street Brewing in Corning NY or Hallo Berlin Tavern in Conklinville NY, the former being a favorite stop from trips back and forth to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and the latter being a German restaurant I’ve been to a few times. Check back for my final post of this trip, either Saturday night or Sunday morning, in which I’ll reveal my Second Meal stop as well as post a map of my complete route from this amazing trip. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to do trips like this several times a year? Ah, but that would require being independently wealthy … so if any of you rich folk would like to adopt me and support me in the style to which I have become accustomed, do please let me know 😉
