Road Trip 2017, Day 6
Today was a relatively short drive, only 250 miles, up into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and across to St. Ignace. Along the way, I was being chased by black clouds which never quite caught up, but as a consequence, I only stopped once to walk for a mile or two on a boardwalk along the northern shore of Lake Michigan:

My hotel room opens right onto a small, ground-level patio with chairs and has a perfect view of Mackinac Island (that’s it, straight ahead):

Here’s a picture standing in the same spot, looking north (to the left):

I had hoped to spend at least half the day tomorrow on Mackinac Island, but we’re expecting a day of rain. Instead, I’ll hang out in this lovely room reading, drive around this area some (probably having a late lunch at one of the many brewpubs in Traverse City), and will be here enjoying this view tomorrow night as well. I’ll probably head to the Island Thursday morning before driving south along the Lake Huron coast, the opposite direction of last year’s drive.
Beyond that, I haven’t decided! It’s enough that I have to think hard to come up with the day number for the title of these posts 🙂
