Road Trip 2017, Day 5

This was an exciting day because it began with a drive from Freeport IL to The House on the Rock in Wisconsin. The House is, of course, featured in Neil Gaiman’s American Gods (book and at the beginning of the upcoming season 2 of the TV series). While I’d seen billboards for it on my drives back and forth across Wisconsin years ago, I’d never been there.

To say it’s eclectic does it a gross injustice as that word is simply inadequate to fully convey the insanity of the place! I won’t even try to describe it here. Instead, I encourage you to look it up on the internet as well as to peruse my album of photos on Facebook (if you’re not friends with me or if you don’t use FB, this link should work for you: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10159132137080089.1073741853.505900088&type=1&l=4b5f40673b).

After the excitement of that visit, I was ready to return to some mindless driving, enjoying the backroads of Wisconsin. After an afternoon on the road, I arrived at my hotel in Green Bay, ate dinner at Titletown Brewing (a very tasty fish and chips accompanied by their award-winning beer), and then crashed for the best night of sleep so far on my trip.
