Homeward Bound (15-16 July)

There are no pictures to share from this part of the trip and not a lot to tell, really. The driving was easy and the weather almost entirely good with the exception of a few minutes of heavy rain the morning of the 16th.

There was also an unfortunate incident Friday morning at my hotel, when some guest’s pack of dogs all started barking their fool heads off shortly after 5:30am. With that racket close by and continuing for about 30 minutes, I never did get back to sleep.

On the bright side, that earlier-than-planned start to my day convinced me that I should definitely make one more stop for archery, at Punderson State Park east of Cleveland. The adventure here was trying my luck at a target 80 yards away, and an adventure it was! There’s not much margin for error at that distance and I was eventually able to at least hit the target 🙂 There was also an archery trail which I’d wanted to try, but black clouds and (according to my radar app) heavy rains were rapidly approaching. True indeed – the rain began as I was driving out of the park, and it was quite heavy for about 10 minutes.

Overall, I drove 3,223 miles and got 45.5 mpg. If only I didn’t have to go back to work Monday morning…
